Make and do1

Here are a few examples of these two verbs. Try and learn these sentences, but it is really a question of practice. What is she doing*? – She is making* a birthday cake for her daughter. Before you go* out, please make your bed and do the washing-up. Is he doing well in his new job? – Yes, he’s making a great deal of money. They always make mistakes with this new maths. I speak* English, and enough German to make myself understood*2. Make him another offer, I think* he will accept. I will have nothing to do with his firm, I don’t trust him. If you want something done well, do it yourself. With all this selection, it is difficult to make a choice. Объяснения

Оба эти глагола в русском языке значат одно и то же – делать, выполнять. В принципе не существует правил, когда какой из них следует употреблять. Оба функционируют в разных оборотах и выражениях, а их правильным использованием в речи вы овладеете со временем. Это дело практики. To make oneself understood – говорить понятно, уметь объясниться. Can you make yourself understood? – Ты можешь объясниться? Тебя понимают?
