| My name is Alexandra. I’m a ninth grade student at the secondary school. My native town is Rostov-on-Don. I was born in this city and spent all my childhood years here. Having the population over one million, I can say that it’s a metropolis and the administrative center of our region. Rostov is a port city as it is situated on one of the major Russian rivers called the Don. I like my city, although some people find it to be too large and difficult to navigate. We have recently learnt a bit about its history. It was interesting to know that the first custom house was established in this area by Empress Elizabeth in the 18th century. Its purpose was to control trade relations with Turkey. The name Rostov-on-Don appeared at the beginning of the 19th century and the city quickly developed into a major trade center and communication hub. All in all, the city has eight districts. The most populated is the Voroshilovsky district. It houses more than 200 people. The climate is mild in my city, although closeness to the Don River and the Azov Sea influences greatly the weather conditions. It often rains and the level of humidity is rather high. My city is full of attractions and entertainment. For example, we often visit the local aqua park H2O, the dolphinarium, the Rostov State circus and the family entertainment center “Safari”. When we have guests from other cities we show them around. Most people like the Don River lookout and its bridges. The city is also full of ancient fortresses, beautiful churches and cathedrals. I know that many notable people have lived and created their masterpieces in Rostov. Among them, Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Sholokhov, Dmitri Mendeleev, Martiros Saryan. I’m proud to be living in this city. In my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of Russia. | Меня зовут Александра. Я учусь в 9-м классе средней школы. Мой родной город Ростов-на-Дону. Я родилась в этом городе и провела здесь свои детские годы. С население, превышающим миллион, можно сказать, что это мегаполис и административный центр нашего региона. Ростов является портовым городом, поскольку расположен на одной из крупнейших российских рек под названием Дон. Я люблю свой город, хотя некоторые люди говорят, что он слишком большой и в нем трудно ориентироваться. Недавно мы изучали немного об его истории. Было интересно узнать, что первая таможня в этой области была создана императрицей Елизаветой Петровной в 18-м веке. Ее целью было контролировать торговые отношения с Турцией. Название Ростов-на-Дону появилось в начале 19-го века, и город быстро превратился в крупный торговый центр и узел связи. В целом, город подразделяется на восемь районов. Самый населенный из них – это Ворошиловский район. Он вмещает более 200 тысяч человек. Климат в моем городе мягкий, хотя близость к реке Дон и Азовскому морю значительно влияют на погодные условия. Часто дождит и уровень влажности достаточно высок. Город полон достопримечательностей и развлечений. Например, мы часто посещаем местный аквапарк H2O, дельфинарий, Ростовский государственный цирк и семейный развлекательный центр “Сафари”. Когда к нам приезжают гости из других городов, мы водим их по примечательным местам. Большинству людей нравится вид на Дон и его мосты. Город также полон древних крепостей, красивых церквей и соборов. Я знаю, что многие именитые люди жили в Ростове и создавали здесь свои шедевры. К ним относятся Антон Чехов, Михаил Шолохов, Дмитрий Менделеев, Мартирос Сарьян. Я горжусь тем, что живу в этом городе. На мой взгляд, это один из самых красивых и интересных уголков России. |
