Charlie Sheen has been making a bit of news this week with outlandish comments on TV and radio appearances, but his bizarre behavior is nothing new.
In 1996, Sports Illustrated included a blurb in its «Scorecard» section that described Sheen’s trip to a California Angels game. Apparently, Sheen was determined to catch a home run ball, so he paid over $6,500 for most of the seats beyond the left field fence at Anaheim Stadium. Sheen and three friends sat 20 rows up and were hoping to catch a Cecil Fielder bomb, but came up empty handed.
«I didn’t want to crawl over the paying public,» Sheen said. «I wanted to avoid the violence.»
SI reported that Sheen bought 2,615 seats in all.
